Margo & Dave
Their wedding journey with me started the day before the Guildhall Wedding Open Day. Margo came across my page while checking out the open day suppliers and sent me a message to enquire about my services. After a few emails back and forth, we arranged to meet the following day at the open day, and I’m so glad we did. It gave me the chance to hear their story, get to know them both, and learn more about their plans for their day. From there we locked in their date, which would creep up quickly, just five months away.
The Venue
Of course the stunning Guildhall was the perfect backdrop for their wedding celebrations. There’s something about the venue which instantly gives any wedding such a beautiful and classic feel.
For their ceremony, Margo had created a Bridgerton-inspired curated playlist which set the tone for a romantic service.
By the time the ceremony wrapped up, there was already such a warm and happy atmosphere amongst their guests. And as the night went on, the laughter only got louder. Even with a smaller group of around 50 guests, they certainly knew how to pack a punch!
The Dress(es)!
Margo looked absolutely incredible in not one, but two dresses by Eliya The Label (Margo’s fav Aussie brand). The first dress was elegant and beautiful, perfectly suited to the setting and the formalities of the day. Then, when it was time to party, Margo changed into her second dress.. a cheeky mini that was made for hitting the dance floor.
To add to this towards the end of the night, she kicked off her heels and slipped into the cutest fluffy slippers!
The Speeches
One of the highlights of the night had to be the speeches.
Margo and Dave were so lucky to have their family and friends there to celebrate with them, with some travelling all the way from Ireland and Russia to be part of their special day. And they certainly made the most of having everyone together!
There were hilarious speeches, plenty of laughs and some very memorable toasts throughout the evening. It was the perfect mix of heartfelt moments and good old-fashioned wedding banter.
But Dave definitely saved the best for last, signing off his speech with a toast that perfectly summed up the night and his love for Margo:
“To you, Margs, my wife, my favourite person and my home. I love you more than you'll ever know.
To the Irish - Sláinte! To the Russians - За здоровье! To the Aussies - Cheers, c#nts!”
Party Time
Once the speeches and toasts were done, it was time to get the party started.
Margo and Dave decided they didn’t want a traditional, formal first dance with everyone watching from the sidelines. Instead, they wanted to make it something that reflected both of their backgrounds and, most importantly, get everyone involved.
To kick things off, we started with ‘Rocky Road to Dublin’ by Jack O’Connell, a nod to Dave’s Irish heritage and a little something for all the Irish family and friends who had travelled over to celebrate with them.
We then switched things up with ‘Rasputin’ by Majestic & Boney M, bringing in Margo’s Russian heritage and giving her family and friends their moment on the dance floor.
It was such a fun way to start the party - no awkward standing around watching the newlyweds have a slow dance, just Margo and Dave surrounded by all the people they love, celebrating where they came from and kicking off their new chapter together.
The Vibes
Margo and Dave’s wedding was by no means your typical wedding when it came to the music.
They came to me with a slightly controversial do-not-play list: “No ABBA, Blondie or any usual oldies which are played at weddings please lol''
Instead, they had a very specific vision for the night. They wanted to kick things off with housey dance music earlier in the evening, before taking things in a completely different direction later on with some naughty hip hop... think Lil Jon’s ‘Get Low’.
Margo and Dave’s guests brought so much energy to the courtyard. There was dancing, singing, plenty of big smiles and the kind of atmosphere that makes my job so much fun.
To Margo and Dave, thank you for trusting me to be part of your special day. I had such a blast celebrating with you and your amazing crew. Cheers to you both, and to a lifetime of love and laughter.
xoxo Katie
